James is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) – the highest certification available to financial planners worldwide. James holds a Diploma in Law (Sydney University), Diploma in Financial Planning (Deakin University and RMIT). James is also one of Australia’s first accredited Self-Managed Superannuation Fund specialist adviser (SSA) and was made a Fellow SMSF Specialist Adviser (FSSA) of the Self- Managed Super Fund Association in February 2020.

James is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and currently sits on the Professional Standards & Conduct Committee and the Conduct Review Commission of the FPA. He is a founding member of the SMSF Association.

James is a frequently requested speaker and workshop convener for accounting conferences and tax discussion groups, such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants and CPA Australia, who seek his expertise and guidance navigating the complexities of SMSFs. He has also been a guest lecturer at the UNSW ATAX program.

James has also been invited to speak at various community and not for profit groups & clubs including Rotary and PROBUS.

Steve has been licensed to provide financial advice since 1990 and established his own advice practice in 1993 – Bonner Blaker Pty Ltd. In 2003, James and Steve merged their practices to form Logical Financial Management (Australia) Pty Ltd.

Steve specialises in providing strategic financial planning advice to clients from accumulators to pre-retirees through to retirees in areas such as superannuation and retirement planning, estate planning and aged care. In addition, he brings over two decades of experience in investment management, research, portfolio construction and on-going management services. Steve is also highly focused on providing financial planning and investment education to our clients in a straight forward and common sense approach.

He has worked directly with clients for over 25 years and counts a good majority of these as personal friends.

Steve is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) – the highest certification available to financial planners worldwide, He holds a Diploma of Financial Planning (Deakin University and RMIT) and an Advanced Diploma of Financial Services, with a specialist SMSF accreditation. Steve was also one of Australia’s first accredited Self-Managed Superannuation Fund specialists adviser (SSA). He is authorised to provide advice on listed securities on the ASX. He is a member of the SMSF Professionals Association of Australia (SMSF Association) and the Financial Planning Association (FPA).

Nadia has an extensive career in the financial planning industry spanning 25 years, including as a life insurance underwriter for a major insurer. When she completed her Bachelor of Business majoring in Finance and Economics, Nadia decided to establish a financial planning firm with James Cotis and remains an owner in Logical post the merge in 2003. Nadia has assisted many clients with their life insurance needs and although she recently decided to take a step back from providing client advice, she maintains a keen interest in and continues to participate in the life insurance aspects of the practice. Her role now is predominantly the overall management of Logical.

Gavin has been an investment specialist for more than 16 years. He has managed substantial superannuation monies for NRMA Superannuation fund, IAG Technical Reserves and ING Investments. This included developing the broad investment strategy, reviewing funds across all asset classes, establishing portfolios, managing all major asset classes and specialist/alternative asset classes and undertaking strategic and tactical asset allocation reviews.

He is the Author of the Certified Financial Planning Program, Investment Strategies, subject (CFP 4 Investment Strategies). This is a required core subject for financial advisers to be credited as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP).

His previous roles include, Head of Multi Manager Strategies – IAG Asset Manager, Head of Australian Equities – ING Investment Management, Research Manager – ING Australia and Senior Investment Strategist – Strategy Steps. His qualifications include a Masters of Applied Finance (Macquarie University), Masters of Financial Planning (University of New South Wales), Bachelor of Agricultural Economic (Sydney University) and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment (Finsia).

Bronny is the Founding Director of AccountantsIQ Pty Ltd, is a Chartered Accountant, Certified Financial Planner and a qualified maths teacher. She has over 25 years’ experience in the accountancy and advice professions, and now splits her time between the two, working closely with Logical for the advice component. Bronny was a Director and Responsible Manager for our boutique AFSL, and gained corporate experience as the Chief Financial Adviser at Mercer (Aust) Pty Ltd. With an excellent understanding of the advice industry, Bronny’s passion for education, financial advice and accounting are showcased through her active industry contribution and her work assisting CAs and CPAs integrate financial planning into their accountancy businesses.

Matt has worked in the financial services industry for over 30 years, including more than 15 years in financial planning. Matt is a strong believer in the value of advice, and the role that a sound financial plan plays in helping clients to achieve their lifestyle and retirement goals. Integrity and trust are two ingredients that Matt regards as essential to all client interactions. Matt holds an MBA from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management, a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Banking and Finance, and holds the Chartered Accountant (CA) designation from Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.  He has also attained a Diploma of Financial Services and specialist qualifications in Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSF).
